JIM & CHERYL SEMON IMPACT AWARD

Jim & Cheryl Semon Impact Award

During each Hall of Fame Dinner, Anthony has the honor of presenting the Jim & Cheryl Semon Impact Award to a deserving member of the community who supports the mission and values of the Foundation and is dedicated to impacting the lives of youth. The winner of this award epitomizes all that Jim and Cheryl meant to the life of Anthony. When Anthony was six years old, Jim, then the Director of Parks and Recreation in Ontario, California and his wife Cheryl, gave Anthony his first baseball glove. Little did they know, at the time he was giving so much more to Anthony. Not having a solid role model, Anthony looked up to Jim. Ultimately, Jim became Anthony’s high school baseball coach and he and Cheryl continued to provide the guidance he needed to succeed in life. After Cheryl passed in 2021, the award’s name was changed to honor her memory as well as Jim.

Congratulations to our 2023 Jim & Cheryl Semon Impact Award Recipient!

Bruce Koserski has been named the recipient of the 2023 Jim & Cheryl Semon Impact Award. The former Cincinnati Bengals center has been a legend on and off the field from the very beginning. The Pennsylvania native, aptly nicknamed “Mr. Versatile,” not only played twelve seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals and was a 3-time Pro Bowler, but he also graduated Holy Cross with a major in Physics and later acquired his Master’s in teaching from Xavier University. He went on to teach physics, pre-calc, and calculus at Holy Cross High School in Covington, Kentucky. His professional career both on and off the field is impressive, but it’s his drive to give back to the youth of the Tri-State that makes him truly legendary.

In 1998, he helped start the football program at Holy Cross High School, serving as assistant head coach from 2004-present. In his eighth year as head coach, he led Holy Cross to its first Division 2A State Championship – but his impact off the field is just as outstanding. He also worked with the school and the community to develop and build Eva G. Farris Sports Complex for the benefit of the community and Covington Holy Cross High School. Beyond the Covington community, Bruce coordinated two high school mission trips of 24 students each to New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina to help rebuild homes in the storm ravaged St. Bernard Parrish. Bruce and his wife, Elizabeth, are parents to Matthew, Adam, and Amy, and grandparents to Gavin, Will, and Bruce.

Bengals Legend, coach, parent, teacher, friend – Bruce is truly “Mr. Versatile”. Thank you for making an “Impact for Eternity”!
