Hi! Mya, here. With the start of fall comes a new school year, a fresh start and of course, a new set of interns! Our interns are eager to start working on the AMF programs and to gain new experiences to better prepare them for their futures.

Once a new school year begins, and along with that, homework begins, sometimes it’s nice to imagine yourself somewhere else. Maybe somewhere exotic, a new city you have yet to discover. Because everyone wishes for a vacation occasionally, I asked each of our interns, “If you could go anywhere in the world where would it be and why?” or “What is the best vacation you’ve ever been on and why?”

Untitled design (4)My name is Mya Priester. I’m a junior, studying Advertising and Public Relations at Xavier University (Go Muskies!).  My hometown is Buffalo, New York and my role at AMF this semester is the Social Media and Content Development Intern. I’ll be updating all the AMF social media, as well as the blog that you are reading right now, so you’ll be hearing a lot from me! If I could go anywhere in the world I would go to Fiji because I love tropical places and sitting on the beach sounds like an amazing break from all the papers I’ll soon be writing.

Our next intern is Elle McGuire. Elle is originally from Shelby Township, Michigan but isUntitled design (2) attending University of Cincinnati for Industrial Organizational Psychology. Her role at AMF will be developing, managing, and executing the logistics for our 18th Annual Youth Leadership Seminar. Elle’s response to the best vacation she’s ever been on was “This past summer I went to Europe. I went to London, Paris, Rome, Venice, and Barcelona. My favorite place was Venice, Italy because it was breath taking and the food was amazing. Everything in Venice was so relaxed and there was always something to do. I learned about so much history on the trip and I can definitely say I miss it already!”

Untitled design (1)Next is Cody Saraco-Polner! Cody is a Sport Administration Major with both a Women’s Gender & Sexuality Studies and Marketing Minor. He grew up in Montclair, New Jersey and his role at AMF is the Topgolf Tailgate Coordinator. When asked where he would go, Cody said, “If I could go anywhere in the world, it would be Calabria, Italy to go see where my mom’s grandparents grew up.”

Fourth on the list is Maddie Mershad, who attends Xavier University with a major in Untitled design (3)Management and minors in Entrepreneurship and Economics. Originally from Springboro, Ohio, So far, Maddie has worked on the Football Academy, and this fall is coordinating the Topgolf Tailgate raffle, as well as volunteer outreach. Maddie says, “If I could go anywhere in the world I would go to Ireland because it is so beautiful there and they have amazing food!

Next on the list is Ryan Gardner. Ryan will be helping with our WhizKids and Hispanic Character Camp this fall, and attends Xavier University, majoring in Sport Management and Marketing. His hometown is Winnetka, Illinois, which is about 20 minutes north of Chicago. Ryan says, “The best vacation I have ever been on was to Atlantis in the Bahamas. Other than the usual laying on the beach and going on waterslides I also was able to swim with dolphins and meet Shaquille O’Neil.”

Last and certainly not least is Emma Gies! She is majoring in Communications, with a Untitled designPublic Relations Certificate. She is from West Chester, Ohio and her role at AMF is the graphic designer. Emma’s favorite vacation was last summer when she traveled throughout Europe for a month with her family, visiting Germany, Italy, France, and England. “This was an amazing trip because as a family we went to see our favorite band The Cure, in concert for their 40th reunion show in Hyde Park, London. We danced and sang amongst nearly one hundred thousand people, and it was a magical time!”

Thanks so much for stopping by and learning a little more about us. We’re thrilled for the new and exciting experiences we know we’ll gain here at AMF and to see what lies ahead for us this Fall.
