81 is the square of 9 and fourth power of three, 81 is the atomic number of thallium and the most points Kobe Bryant has scored in a single game, 81 is the total number of prayers said in the rosary but most importantly, 81 is the number of Service Challenge Projects going on in our community right now!

Wrapping up February we’ve seen:

1,000 Socks+ Donated

Mount Auburn International Academy hosted AMF and speakers from Speak Love and Bethany House Services, giving us the opportunity to see this project in person at Mount Auburn. They had every grade compete to try to reach the goal of 1,000 socks for Bethany House, a goal which they ended up exceeding! Great job Bulldogs!

Brown County Youth Drug Prevention Coalition, Unite!

Ripley Union Lewis Huntington High School and Georgetown High School have joined together for their service learning project to make a difference by building awareness in combating the drug epidemic across Brown County. Their students developed the Brown County Youth Drug Prevention Coalition; and collaboratively created a Twitter Account (@BCYDPC) , a Facebook page and a video that is posted on YouTube. They have hosted a meeting with Senator Uecker, who visited their campus in January, and are now in the process of planning a 5K Glow Run to build awareness and raise funds for our local Drug and Alcohol Center on April 22, 2017. Can’t wait to hear more about it!

Hope for Healing

Hillsboro Christian Academy held an educational event called Hope for Healing, which consisted of four speakers. The students of HCA helped with advertising, calls to agencies, t-shirts, wristbands, and event set up. The speakers discussed suicide, depression and self-mutilation, with a brief description of Man Therapy. The speakers informed the audience on the ways that you can help yourself or someone else if you or they are having these thoughts. Inspiring work, Hillsboro!
